15 Fun Family Things To Do
You may be aware of the National Trust’s campaign, ‘50 Things to do before 11 3⁄4, to get children off the sofa and to spend less time on computer games.
We have been inspired by this and we would like to invite you to take part in our very own ‘15 Things to do’ challenge.
Each year, there will be a different theme with 15 challenges, spread over the three terms: 5 Autumn Challenges, 5 Spring Challenges and 5 Summer Challenges.
We have chosen ‘Family’ as our theme this year because spending time together as a family is always important but even more so at this time. We have had so many wonderful ideas and it has been hard to pick just 15 challenges. We have included a range of activities both indoor and outdoor. But most importantly, all the activities can be completed and enjoyed by the whole family together.
Even though your child may have experienced some of the activities before, our challenge starts from October half term. Your family will be given a scrapbook so that you can keep a record of the activities that you have taken part in. When you complete one of the activities your child/children can make an entry, at home, in their scrapbook to show the challenge that your family has completed. We would like your child/children to make a written entry so that it is an opportunity for them to practise their writing skills. Your child/children can present their scrapbook in a range of ways. It would be great to see a range of writing styles such as thought bubbles, speech bubbles, labels and captions, diary entries and recounts and, of course, please include drawings and photographs. Please keep your scrapbook at the end of this academic year, ready for next year’s challenges – this project will run annually.
Your family will be given a certificate for each of the 5 items completed which can then go into the scrapbook.
Please bring the scrapbook into school, in a bag/folder, so that it can be seen by one of the adults.
We really hope that your family takes part and enjoys completing our ‘15 Fun Family Things to do – spending time together’ challenge.
